NOTAM or "NOtice To AirMen" reports are issued by Government Agencies to alert pilots to possible hazards en-route or at a specific location.

NOTAMs are issued for reasons such as:

  • Air Shows & Aerial Exhibitions
  • Runway Closures
  • Inoperable Navigational Aids
  • Airspace Retrictions due to Military Exercises
  • Inoperable Tower and Antenna Lights
  • Obstacles Near Airfields (e.g. construction)

TFR or "Temporary Flight Restriction" is defined as "A geographically-limited, short-term airspace restriction, generally in the United States." TFRs are usually issued to alert Pilots of flight airspace restrictions around:

  • Major Sporting Events
  • Natural Disaster Areas
  • Air Shows
  • Spacecraft Launches
  • Presidential Movements
  • ... and more
Temporary Flight Restrictions can be limited to hours, days, months or years.
